Ode to my Father Korean Movie Review

This is a brother, a son, and a husband’s journey in giving out all he has for his family. A very endearing and touching film about a man’s sacrifices in his dream to fulfill his promise to his father.

1 Night 2 Days

KVariety Show Focus: 1 Night 2 Days

CURRENT CAST: Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Jong Min, Jung Joon Young, Defcon, Kim Joon Ho, Yoon Shi Yoon

South Korea takes pride on interesting and fun variety shows developed over the years. The more fun and engaging, a show would be, the more years it will stay airing on television.

1 Night 2 Days is a KBS Sunday variety program showcasing the beauty of South Korean peninsula. It is an impromptu acting for the celebrity actors on the games and missions prepared by the production team. If you have plans visiting hallyu-land in the future and you want to deviate from the usual google search results for tourist destinations, this show will take you to the most beautiful places of authentic Korean culture. For a travel show it’s a fun watch because of the vibrant members who make each trip memorable. The members play games for their food and sleeping arrangement. What I like most about this variety show is how you see the celebrities’ commitment on the show. They don’t care what task they will have, even if they will suffer or will look dumb, they will go with the production flow.
If you can get to the earlier seasons, it will be even nicer, but you may start your traveling with these rowdy hyungs on Season 3. -jediprincess

Beautiful Mind

A medical mystery drama about a psychopath genius neurosurgeon. The female lead (Park So Dam) will be a detective in the violent crimes division. Meanwhile, Lee Young Oh (Jang Hyuk) is a male cardio-thoracic surgeon who becomes a new assistant professor at the hospital. The drama promises to shed the usual medical procedural framework and will tell a mysterious story about “someone who kills, someone who saves, someone who chases, and someone who’s chased.”

Miss Granny (2014) Movie Review

Miss Granny
Review by: Imfaerae

The main plot of this movie follows Oh Mal-soon, a grandmother who is switched into the body of her younger self and experiences her youth again. The story revolves around her opportunity to do something she loved but had to give up when she had a child at a young age. For me, the film also poses an interesting question. Would you make the same choices in life if you could do it all over again? It’s a premise I’ve seen before but it was still entertaining.

I thought the movie was going to be more of a romantic comedy but the romance elements felt like an afterthought. If you are looking for a true romantic movie, this isn’t it. This is a dramatic comedy with heartwarming and sincere moments. Miss Granny shines more as a film about family relationships. One of the things I enjoy about Korean films and dramas is the often heavy focus on family.  KEEP ON READING !!

The Thieves (2012) Movie Review

The Thieves
By TonyD

The Thieves is a South Korean heist film directed by Choi Dong-Hoon, One of the first things i noticed was the amazing cast line up from the stunning dream team of  ‘Jun Ji-hyun’ and ‘Kim Soo-hyun’  to the Seasoned actress Kim Hae-sook who we have seen in many recent K-Dramas in 2014.

The synopsis of this film attracted me the most, who doesn’t love the thrill of a heist movie mixed with intrigue and substance coupled with great looking actors. Obviously being good looking isn’t everything and you have to be able to act, but with this cast line up, that wasn’t even an issue.  KEEP ON READING !

Snowpiercer (2013) Movie Review

By TonyD

Snowpiercer is loosely based on the French graphic novel “La Transperceneige,” directed by Joon Ho-Bong, and with his earlier directions of the well know Korean monster flick “The Host”, This unique science fiction film Snowpiercer suspiciously felt like a really bad B-movie with a not so thrilling synopsis, so to boot i was going in to this film with no expectations.

The movie begins and low and behold, my expectations were thrown out of the window literally. As the film picks up pace right from the get go, with such a short prologue at the beginning not allot is said, but enough is understood to launch this film off in to an unexpected realm of Visceral Action and an almost dystopian society resembling something from the far reaches of your mind.
