The Technicians (2014) Movie Review

The Technicians
By TonyD

I don’t know about everyone else but i do love a good bank heist Movie from time to time. So introducing “ The Technicians “ , a rather nicely written film with an abundance of stars to its name, and they changed that a few times too,  from the “Criminal designer”  to “The Con Artists”. Either way it wouldn’t distract any one of the numerous fan girls from ’Mr Kim Woo-Bins’ band camp from ever watching this movie.

The Technicians starts of looking like a really cool fun caper and quite reminiscent of George Clooney’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ film, But from the beginning it starts of quite slow and laid back and hardly ever picked up speed, so my expectations were a little dashed,  Perhaps it was all that pretense and illusion from the high paced trailers.

2014 - The Con Artists (still 2)

The characters are very likable in this movie which adds to its appeal and especially with (Kim Woo-Bin) who plays the good looking ‘Ji-Hyeok’ an elite safe-cracker and his team ‘Koo-In’ (Ko Chang-Seok) and an extraordinarily elite hacker ‘Jong-Bae’ (Lee Hyun-Woo).  This ragtag crew plan to rob a high end jeweller of some rather expensive diamonds, this jewellery store is owned by President ‘Jo’ (Kim Young-Chul), A rather wicked man, meanwhile president ‘Jo’ has other evil plans and sets about to use ‘Ji-Hyeok’ to steal millions of dollars stored within the Korean customs area in Incheon ‘South Korea’. Dancing Queen (2012) Movie Review

Dancing Queen
By Imfaerae

Dancing Queen is an entertaining comedy about a married couple who realize it’s never too late to give up on dreams or ambitions. I’m big fan of Uhm Jung-hwa and Hwang Jung-min so it was fun to see them together in a romantic comedy. Interestingly, their character names in the movie match their real life names. Jing-min finds himself humorously becoming a candidate for mayor and Jung-hwa plays the wife who dreams of being a singer.

The movie starts with a cute sequence of how the couple meets and becomes husband and wife. It sets the tone of the movie rather well. There is plenty of comedy as they both pursue their careers, not exactly in their element. Jing-min is young and inexperienced for politics and Jung-hwa is over the hill for a singer. Dancing Queen does a good job of balancing the funny with occasional seriousness but mostly it’s a dead-on situational comedy as his ambition in the political arena clashes with her aspirations in the entertainment world. King of Masked Singer

Korean Variety Show Focus: King of Masked Singer

This MBC production is a talent show that features celebrities/singers in a singing competition.

The thrill of the show is the audience’ inability to see the face of the singer because he is wearing a mask and only when the singer is defeated can his identity be revealed. 8 participants will start initially and will battle out in 3 rounds until the final person succeeds and challenge the reigning King of Masked Singer.

I am honestly still moving on from the 9x winning streak of Music Commander. His rendition of Tsams “Waiting Day By Day” is haunting me and it’s frustrating that it’s hard to sing it. He is the longest reigning Music Commander and his domination started on Episode 44.

At first the show didn’t appeal to me, but after 2 episodes, I finally submit to include it on my watch list because I love to learn more about Korean music artistry.

If you want to learn Korean contemporary music, this is an amazing show that will walk you through it.
